US Energy Plan Will Create 2.4 Million Alternative Energy Jobs by Killing 10 Million – Great Plan

June 30th, 2009 |

Apparently, the Obama Administration is telling us that they are going to create jobs in the alternative energy sector and they’re going to be taxing coal and other fossil fuels to pay for it. This all sounds well and good and it would be nice to have 2.4 million new jobs in the alternative energy sector but it will also cost us 10 million jobs in other sectors. Let me explain.

First of all 60% of all the energy we generate in the United States of America comes from burning coal. And we need more energy generation stations not fewer. We will have a tough time keeping up with our needs in the future if we prevent companies from building more coal plants or from expanding the plants are already operating. Getting conditional use permits, modifying permits, and getting environmental impact reports can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, sometimes millions.

One oil refinery noted it would cost $100 million to get their environmental impact report passed, and with this estimate they decided not to spend $100 million, much less the upgrades that were needed, which would’ve actually helped clean the air and lowered our nation’s fuel prices per gallon. When Congress tried to put forth tax incentives to get oil companies to upgrade their facilities, environmental groups raised a stink, claiming that oil companies already made too much money and they did not deserve the tax incentives.

Fine, we have a scenario straight out of the Ayn Rand’s; “Atlas Shrugged” novel. If coal plants are to upgrade to clean coal technologies, but can’t get their EIRs through, then they cannot clean the air. If they cannot expand these facilities the price of energy is going to skyrocket, as it might take years, even decades for alternative energy systems to be built, and expand to the level of energy we need and continue to need, including the expansion that will be necessary as our population grows.

For those that think our population is not expanding or growing they fail to recognize that we have 30 million illegal aliens in our country that also use energy, no it’s not 12 million illegal aliens; they were using that figure 20 years ago, they can’t keep using the same figure for 20 years in a row. These illegal aliens along with the Mexican immigrants who are now citizens are continuing high birth rates. The population of the United States of America is growing and so is our demand for energy.

Each time the energy costs are raised in our country our manufacturing facilities are put at a greater disadvantage, as they have to raise prices and then are unable to compete on world markets. This means people will be laid off and factories will continue to close. All this is economics 101, and it is just amazing that our elected representatives will shower us with political rhetoric and nonsense in denial. Even worse that the voters believe all this garbage and think that we are going to solve all our energy challenges of the future by making more rules and regulations.

so how does it eliminate 10 million jobs? I’m confused because you didn’t elaborate on your points.

Im surprised someone like you could get through Atlas Shrugged, but can’t write a decent article.

And let me say that I agree with you. I think it is a horrible program on the part of the Obama administration. I’m not complaining about the point you said you were going to make.

I’m complaining because I just read a bunch of junk. How do you expect to convince people with such crap?

Why not just wear a shirt that says, “I’m just another right wing conservative puppet”? And again, I agree with you…but it’s people like you that make conservatives look like morons.
